Historian Jessica Grogan tells us the about Maslows life and influence. Abraham Maslow was the founder of Humanistic psychology. This is a movement said to have influenced the culture of the 1960's and 1970's. We still have the influence of this academic movement in its application to motivation in buisness, facilitation and therapy.
The humanists wanted to bring the person back into psychology. Jessica Grogan describes Maslow in an edearing narrative. Giving a quality to Maslow as an "endearing", "optomistic" and "enthusiastic" person. Then continues on to describe him as "pessimistic" and "critical". Her interpretation of Maslow , the way she experiences him as "complex" takes us on a journeyt through Maslow in her trying to understand him herself.
The video is a narative of personal insight as a historian mixed with video clips of Maslow himself that draw us in to try to understand him as a person. The tie is made between him as a person and the influence this had on his theories.
